WHY DO FLANGES LEAK? WHY DO FLANGES LEAK?

There are various reasons for leaking flanges, some of these are:

  • FLANGE DAMAGE
  • OVER TIGHTENING
  • INSUFFICIENT INSTALLATION GASKET STRESS
  • GASKET STRESS LOSS OVER TIME
  • TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATIONS
  • GASKETS ARE NOT 100% TIGHT, etc

Our flange calculation analyses are made according to EN 1591-1:2014.

The method analyses the mechanical behaviour of flanges in 4 load conditions: Assembly, Test, Operating Condition 1 and Operating Condition 2.This method considers the mechanical strength and thermal behaviour of the flanges, bolts, nuts and gasket, and calculates the maximally possible installation bolt assembly force with which none of the components will be over stressed in any of the 4 load conditions.
